Hey, why did you ask about the leashes?

Good question :) On peopleofwalmart.com there was a picture of a woman with her child on a "leash" and there were well over 400 comments debating the use of them....which is kinda funny from that website.

Anyway, the arguement that I got upset about was that if you use a leash you are a lazy, bad, selfish parent. And I got very offended by that.

I may have bad days, but I do NOT think I am a bad parent. I sure as HELL am not a lazy mom. And yes, I guess trying to keep my son safe is selfish.

A child learns to walk MUCH earlier than he will "learn a lesson" by pulling away. They can't grasp that concept yet. I was walking through a busy park with my son and I had a GOOD hold on his hand. He STILL managed to pull away and run right in front of a girl on a swing. BAM! Her feet hit his head and he went flying back. Now....do you really think he figured out that he got hurt because he pulled away (at 19 mos)??? NO he didn't. These things can happen in a split second. And if you are in a crowd such as an airport or at Disney? I hate to think what could happen if he got loose.

Also, who the hell wants to walk with their arm being tugged straight up to their parents? That is uncomfortable for anyone. And let me tell you, if they pull hard enough, or you try to yank them back quickley when they pull away? You CAN dislocate their shoulder (THAT is from my first pediatrician!)

Anyway....that is what prompted the poll....thanks to everyone who participated.

Thought this might be a good topic for people to share their tips and tricks for saving money these days.

***I used my first coupons ever this week that I clipped :). And it was kinda fun.

***I'm also using white vinegar to clean our tiles and grout instead of expensive cleaners.

I'd love to hear everyone's ideas if you're willing to share. I'm gonna make this post open to everyone so feel free to pass it along if you want. Maybe we can come up with some great stuff.

Anyone interested?

Putting this up again. How can any of this be "wrong"? So sad.

Prop H8TE is an embarrassment to the citizens of this country. And yes, I AM a VERY CONSERVATIVE person. I just don't discriminate.

So they found a skull in the woods and think they found Caylee Anthony's remains :( I think, but of course we don't know *yeah, right*, that the mom did it. And if she did, I hope she rots and burns in hell for all eternity!

That little angel was a beautiful, precious gift and I just want to torture whoever did this to her *coughhermomcough*. How can anyone be so evil? So f*cking unfeeling? I would, myself, *kill* for such a beautiful daughter. And 'someone' so callously throws her away like yesterday's trash.

Christmas letter time!!!

im batman shhhh
My in-laws do this and I HATE IT!!!!!! I don't mind Christmas letters most times....if you have something to say. But my in-laws, GAH, all they do is try to make their everyday, mundane life seem like they are living royalty.

*insert sarcasm* "Like, OMGosh, you went to Arizona in the motorhome??? Oh, how I WISH I were you!!!!!!!" *dies*

Oh, and of course as usual, hubby, baby, and I don't warrant any news while all the others do. THEY even get pictures in the letter! Oh!!!!! Sour grapes? Hell yes! Cause one day my son is going to be able to read and gee, I don't know, maybe NOTICE THIS SH*T???????

So, last year I wrote my own letter to make myself feel better. And since I have so many new people on my flist, I thought I'd post it again (with this year's updates)

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Merry Christmas, to old friends and new, dear friends and you. Just wanted to send along my annual holiday letter. You know, the one that gushes with emotion, sends warms wishes and includes a reminder that I have a bigger house than you, a better job than you, and that my kid is freakin’ genius?

Well, our 1-year-old continues to show STUNNING ability in math, science, music and sports! Also, some of his paintings are reminiscent of Monet, so we’re not sure if he’ll be an AMAZING artist, or a pro basketball player, or a WORLD-FAMOUS musician who cures cancer!!!

It’s amazing how much my boy has grown this year. He can already say about 500 words, six of which are in English. The other words are part Mandarin Chinese, part Arabic and part of a lost civilization.

When he got his first set of building blocks he seemed quite interested in large buildings. This year he designed his first skyscraper and ground was broken in Hong Kong for the new "Jackson" Towers. It is great to have a budding architect at home as he made a new addition to the house and a wonderful gazebo for our garden. Martha Stewart will be filming her next show here in March.

Lori had a very busy year. In between her work as President of the American Cancer Society and Senior Partner of Goldman Inc, she introduced a line of children's novels and hand made Organic active-wear. She remains occupied with the baby and has introduced him to Yoga and piano this year. We are particularly proud of her as a starting forward representing the United States in the World Cup.

Steve was immersed with his many promotions, and managed to co-author a paper on Multi-dimensional Defense Attribute Analysis by Conjoint Survey and accept a Nobel Prize for his discoveries in Quantum Physics. Along the way he took three startups through their IPO. We are proud of his work serving on the Board of Directors of IBM, Coca-Cola, and The Walt Disney Co.

We were able to squeeze a little traveling in this year. We started in Aspen, went to Belarus, the Congo, Denmark, Ethiopia, the Falklands, Greenland, Holland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Venezuela, and Zaire. Our trip sailing our new boat around the world was a great experience for Jaks, we learned to communicate with Dolphins and discovered a new region of deep water volcanoes.

And Buster, our Chihuahua, learned to speak. Latin, no less. Other than that, it was a very quiet year. So from our household to yours, all the Blessings of the Season and may your New Year be as prosperous as ours is sure to be..... we found out yesterday that we won the $150 Million Powerball Lottery.

Signed,
Don't you wish you were me

No sleep for the baby or parents

So when we put baby down at 8, he was very restless. We wound up giving him another half bottle about 9. He kept losing his paci and he had a lot of tooting going on so I know gas was also a problem. Well, around 11:30 he woke up and we couldn't get him to stop screaming. We gave him another full bottle which he drained and some Mylecon because he was still grumbling in the tummy and still had gas.

No good...he was just sitting up and crying/screaming. Finally, we decided to bring him into bed with us. Not even that helped. He was awake and cranking until 3:00 and then when he did fall asleep, he was so restless he still kept waking up and crying.

Oh, and he never had his second nap, so I don't know why he wasn't tired.

His sleep patterns have just been going down hill and we are at a loss.

Could this all be growing pains? I can't imagine it was just the gas, because he's never really had that kind of problem and for so long. He wasn't showing signs of teething, either.

Ideas? We are desperate for sleep.

Arggggh!

  • Nov. 18th, 2008 at 10:22 PM

Impending migraine and all alone.
No, really.... impending migraine and all alone!!!!

Hurry up medicine, fix me so I can take care of the baby.

And hubby is living it up in Vegas. This SUCKS!

Hmmm....where to start? I don't mind them changing the dances once in a while, but I hated them throwing in 4 new dances that practically none of the pros knew. And then to give West Coast Swing to Lacey who is the current champion? WTF is up with that? And then people like Derek and Cheryl get dances they've NEVER done?

I'm soooo glad they called Lacey out on her dance-whore choreography of look at me, me, me! I can't wait to see if she brings it up tomorrow night. And her dad? A former champion who still teaches being that fat? Get some Slim Fast shakes, buddy!

Loved Kym and Warren....she always has great routines. Clorky? Oh my...... well, the producers put her in and people want to vote for her, so... I just hate that we aren't getting to see the best of Corky's choreography talents because of her limitations.

I actually really liked Derek and Julianne's routines. Good call of giving them the Jitterbug, I loved the energy they put into it!

Hopefully they'll send either C&C or L&L home tonight!

After seeing them do his and Misty's jive tonight, I think Maks should finish the season with Edyta as his partner. And for the sake of the show, *insert long-suffering sigh* I am willing to overlook the fact that she is a pro....

DwtS Update :(

Word is that Misty May tore/hurt her achilles tendon and is out of the competition....which means Maks is out, too! *glares* Stupid Misty May! You can run around the sand like a chicken on crack, but dance with a hottie and you hurt yourself? Please, Lord, let Maks have some more pro dances at least!!!!!!! *mourns the loss of my eye candy*
